Turquoise "CRATER" — Glaze Powder

from €15.00
Weight:

A highly decorative and sculptural glaze that creates a rich, volcanic texture during firing.

Designed for high-fired stoneware and porcelain, this glaze develops a dynamic, cratered surface full of movement and depth. For an especially pronounced effect, apply the glaze 3–4 times thicker than a normal glaze application. The thicker layer encourages more bubbles and creates the characteristic volcanic surface.

The glaze is best applied as a thick, creamy consistency that can also be dabbed on with a brush, rather than brushed on as a conventional thin glaze.

Pictured on stoneware, including the cup shown alongside EYWA TQ glaze.

1200–1280°C (Cone 6–9)
Pictured samples are fired to 1260°C (Cone 8, ≈ 2300°F).

Food Safety Note

This glaze is lead- and cadmium-free. However, because of its highly textured surface, it is not recommended for functional food-contact areas. We recommend using it as a decorative glaze or on non-food-contact surfaces.

Contains Barium Carbonate. Handle the dry powder with care. Do not ingest.

Mixing Guidelines

IMPORTANT:
You MUST mix the entire dry bag at once.

Because this glaze is blended by hand, the ingredients are not uniform in small scoops. Mixing only part of the bag can produce uneven results.

For this glaze, use approximately a 0.7:1 water-to-powder ratio to achieve a thick, creamy consistency suitable for dabbing or building up the surface.

  • 100 g powder → 70 ml water

  • 500 g powder → 350 ml water

  • 2500 g powder → 1750 ml water

Mix thoroughly and sieve before use.
