Laima Ceramics is a collection of handcrafted tableware born from the fusion of art, craftsmanship, and design. Guided by values of stewardship, sustainability, and social empowerment, each piece reflects our commitment to mindful, responsible creation.
Durable, timeless, and beautifully made, our pottery pieces are functional works of art — designed for everyday dining at home as well as for the demands of professional restaurant use.
All Laima Ceramics tableware is high-fired, food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and crafted to withstand regular, long-term use. Working in high-fired stoneware and porcelain also lets us extend beyond tableware into interior objects — vases, planters, lighting, light switches, and sockets.
We offer worldwide shipping from our studio in Latvia, EU 🇱🇻, and currently supply 100+ retail stockists across the Europe and US.
How We Produce: Two Avenues
It's worth understanding how Laima Ceramics actually works, since it shapes what's possible for your project.
1. In-Studio Handmade Production
Laima Ceramics is an author-led studio run by two potters in Latvia. Every piece in our core collections is handmade from start to finish — thrown, slab-built, or hand-formed, then glazed and fired by us. This is where our standard wholesale collections, minor customisations, and co-branded work come from. As two people, we produce on average 300 pieces per month — a number that regularly surprises new partners, given the range and volume of work we ship. Because it's genuinely handmade by two people, batch sizes and turnaround are naturally limited — see Production Time below.
2. Partner Studio Production
For larger-scale or mould-based projects, we work with a trusted partner studio here in Europe, capable of producing several thousand pieces per month. This route is used for Design Development & Molding and larger Private Label or Range Creation projects — anything requiring slip-cast production at volume. This is a separate production model from our in-studio work, and is where design/mould investment and longer development timelines come in.
If a project's volume needs go beyond what two hands can realistically produce in-studio, that's usually the signal to move into the partner studio route rather than push against in-studio capacity.

Minimum Order
Minimum order value: €1,000
Pricing & Sales Tax
All wholesale prices are VAT/tax free. Orders shipped within Latvia are subject to 21% VAT.
Payment Terms
Order value Terms
Up to €5,000 - Full payment required prior to production and shipping
Above €5,000 - 50% advance to begin production, 50% balance due prior to dispatch
Shipping costs are calculated separately and invoiced before dispatch.
Accepted payment methods: Bank transfer, PayPal (PayPal transactions may incur an additional processing fee — ask us for current rates).
PRODUCTION TIME
As a two-potter, author-led studio, in-studio wholesale orders take a minimum of 4 weeks from the start of production, depending on seasonality, order volume, and current studio workload. Each piece passes through four stages — drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing — which together require at least four weeks under optimal conditions. We produce 300–400+ small–medium pieces per month in-studio. Projects needing significantly higher monthly volume are better suited to our partner studio route, which produces several thousand pieces per month.
Reorders follow the same production timeline as new orders — our capacity doesn't change based on order history, so please plan reorder lead times accordingly.
We'll always give a clear, realistic production estimate at the time of order confirmation.

Returns
Custom-made and made-to-order pieces are non-returnable.
Breakage During Shipping
Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery. To qualify for a refund, submit a damage report within 3 days of delivery, including:
a photo of the outer packaging, and
a photo of the damaged item.
Once approved, you'll receive a credit note applied to a future order.
Handcrafted Nature
Minor variations in size, shape, colour, and surface are a natural and expected characteristic of handmade ceramics. We take great care to match items within a set as closely as possible, though an exact match to previously purchased items cannot be guaranteed. Many of our glazes are special-effect glazes, so variations in finish, texture, and colour depth from piece to piece are part of the material's character.

Each piece is entirely handmade using one of the following traditional techniques:
Slab rolling – used for plates and open bowls in a variety of sizes
Wheel throwing – for cups, mugs, bowls, teapots, jugs, carafes, vases, and more
Coiling & hand-building – ideal for light objects, large-scale floor vases, and flower planters
Slip casting – used for the Yutori range, allowing for refined shapes and consistent forms while preserving the handmade feel
Collaboration Tiers
Beyond standard wholesale, we offer several levels of custom collaboration — from small tweaks to an existing design, up to fully bespoke, long-term ranges. These sit on a spectrum of design investment, so it helps to know roughly where your project falls.
1. Co-Branded / Custom Production
Production avenue: In-studio · MOQ: 100 pieces per project
Best for restaurants, cafés, and boutique projects that want a distinctive result built from our existing forms and glazes — not a rebrand. Minor adjustments to size, shape, or colour are available within existing ranges (MOQ 12 per item).
Your logo or name can be added alongside the Laima Ceramics maker's mark — we don't offer our existing collections as unbranded white-label products.
Fees:
Stamp preparation & wooden stamp production: €90 one-time fee
Co-branding application fee: +10% of order total
New glaze development: from €300/colour, 1–2 months, includes testing

2. Design Development & Molding
Production avenue: Partner studio · MOQ: from 1,000 pieces
For clients who want a shape modified or newly moulded at scale, produced through our partner studio. This reduces per-item cost for larger production runs and suits established brands with clear volume needs.
Onboarding & design development: from €300 per item
Mould investment: typically €350–2,000 per item, set by our production partner (final cost confirmed before development begins)
Development time: approximately 3–6 months
Per-item production cost: generally €5–15/item depending on complexity, size, glaze, and volume
3. Private Label
Production avenue: In-studio or partner studio, depending on scope
True private label — a new collection presented entirely under your brand, without the Laima Ceramics maker's mark — is a design commission, not a standard order tier. Pricing and quantity requirements are scoped based on what's actually involved.
As a guide:
A straightforward adaptation of an existing form (e.g. a new plate shape from a reference image) may take 3-6weeks
Full collection development — involving iterative design rounds, glaze/colour development, and graphic design collaboration — is a longer process (historically 3–8 months in past projects) and priced according to scope after an initial consultation.
MOQ is typically 50+ units for in-house handmade production and 1000+ units for moulded production.
How it starts: send us a reference, sketch, or brief describing what you're looking for, and we'll let you know what avenue (in-studio or partner) makes sense.
4. Range Creation
For brands, design studios, manufacturers, and hospitality groups looking to develop a bespoke ceramic range for long-term, ongoing production — not a one-off release. This is a deeper creative and technical partnership: collection concept, form and glaze development, prototyping, mould creation, and production setup for scale.
Design ownership is retained by Laima Piliņa; for long-term partnerships, licensing or royalty-based agreements may be discussed instead of a flat design fee.
(Example: the Eclipse Collection, designed for Vaidava Ceramics, has been in production under a long-term design and licensing agreement for over 10 years.)

How to Order Custom Work
Step 1 — Initial Enquiry. Share your idea, reference image, or sketch to begin the conversation and explore suitability, scope, and scale.
Step 2 — Design Development & Sample Payment. Confirm your project by completing the initial payment, which initiates design development and your first sample set (typically 1–4 weeks).
Step 3 — Sample Review. Review high-quality images of your completed samples, or request delivery to experience the pieces in person.
Step 4 — Production Quotation & Confirmation. Receive a detailed quotation for full production and proceed with final confirmation and payment.
Step 5 — Production Updates. We'll share progress images during production and notify you once your pieces are completed.
Step 6 — Shipping & Delivery. Select your preferred delivery method and settle the final shipping invoice.
Step 7 — Delivery & Use. Receive your custom-made ceramic pieces — thoughtfully designed and handmade especially for you.
Order Confirmation & Changes
Once an order is confirmed and production has begun, changes to quantities, designs, glazes, or delivery timelines may not be possible. Requested changes are reviewed case-by-case and may involve additional costs or extended production time.
Cancellations
If a project is cancelled after deposit but before production has started, the design/development portion of the deposit is non-refundable, as it covers work already completed. Once production has begun, orders cannot be cancelled. Please reach out as early as possible if your plans change — we'll always try to find a workable solution.
Unforeseen Delays
Laima Ceramics cannot be held responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond our control, including shipping delays, customs inspections, material shortages, kiln failure, or force majeure events. We'll communicate transparently and work with partners to find the best solution.
Currency & Price Validity
All prices are listed in EUR (€). Prices are subject to change without prior notice; confirmed orders are always honoured at the agreed quotation.
