MOON Collection — Ikebana Lava Vase
A quiet study in balance and restraint, this wheel-thrown Ikebana vessel belongs to the MOON collection — a series defined by its cratered lunar surfaces and the poetic dialogue between raw earth and still form. Designed for the art of Ikebana, its proportions invite thoughtful, minimal floral compositions where each stem holds intention.
The exterior is finished in a richly textured crater lava glaze — a highly reactive, mineral-rich surface that transforms uniquely in the kiln. As it expands and contracts under intense heat, it forms a tactile landscape of soft craters, ridges and tonal depth, reminiscent of moon rock, weathered stone and ancient terrain. Decorative and expressive, the surface may feel rough in places, honouring the authentic nature of lava glaze and the wabi-sabi philosophy of imperfection.
Glazed inside and fully functional, this vase comfortably holds water, making it ideal for Ikebana arrangements, floating florals or sculptural botanical displays.
Artfully wheel-thrown from stoneware and high-fired, each piece becomes non-porous, exceptionally strong and built to endure — a harmonious balance between delicacy and resilience.
Every MOON vessel is entirely unique, shaped by hand, fire and time. Subtle variations in form and surface are not flaws, but expressions of its soulful character.
