Moon vase
A study in balance, stillness and form, this pure round vase belongs to the MOON collection — a series defined by cratered lunar surfaces and the quiet poetry of minimal silhouette. Its softly spherical body embodies simplicity at its most refined, allowing texture, light and shadow to become the true language of expression.
A contemporary minimal vase, handmade by Laima in her rural Latvian studio, this form celebrates organic harmony and the wabi-sabi philosophy — honouring imperfection, transience and the beauty of natural irregularity. The purity of its round shape, combined with its raw, textured surface, creates a unique design object that feels both grounded and contemplative.
The exterior is finished in a richly textured crater lava glaze — a highly reactive, mineral-rich surface that transforms uniquely in the kiln. As the glaze expands and contracts under intense heat, it forms a tactile landscape of soft craters and ridges, reminiscent of moonstone, weathered cliffs and ancient volcanic terrain. Decorative and expressive, the surface may feel rough to the touch in places, celebrating the authentic, elemental character of the MOON collection.
Glazed inside and fully functional, this vase comfortably holds water, making it ideal for fresh florals, sculptural branches or as a standalone art object bringing quiet presence into a space.
Artfully handcrafted from high-fired stoneware, each piece becomes non-porous, exceptionally strong and built to endure — a harmonious balance of fragility and resilience.
This is the exact item shown in the images — a one-of-a-kind creation shaped by hand, fire and time.
