Explore Our STUDIO CAPABILITIES

We are a design and ceramics studio capable of taking a project from idea to finished production.

From handmade tableware to bespoke interior objects and larger-scale production, our studio works across a range of ceramic techniques, materials and production methods. We can help develop a project from an initial idea or sketch through prototyping, glaze development and production — whether you need a small handmade series or a collection produced at scale.

MAKING METHODS

1. WHEEL THROWING

From small cups and bowls to teapots, jugs, carafes, vases and larger vessels, wheel throwing allows us to create individual forms with subtle variations and a distinctly handmade character.

2. SLAB-BUILT TABLEWARE & VESSELS

We use slab-building for plates, bowls and trays.

We can also create oversized vessels, sculptural forms, planters and objects with more organic or architectural shapes.

This technique allows us to showcase the irregularity of handmade ceramics.

3. HAND-BUILDING & COILING

Hand-building gives us freedom to move beyond the limitations of the wheel.

We can create oversized vessels, sculptural forms, planters and objects with more organic or architectural shapes.

4. SLIP CASTING & MOULD-MADE PRODUCTION

For larger-scale or mould-based projects, we work with a trusted partner studio here in Europe, capable of producing several thousand pieces per month. This route is used for Design Development & Molding and larger Private Label or Range Creation projects — anything requiring slip-cast production at volume. This is a separate production model from our in-studio work, and is where design/mould investment and longer development timelines come in.

Client Reviews

“Working with LaimaCeramics has been a truly lovely experience ! Communication was smooth, natural, and professional from the very beginning. When I received the ceramics, I was honestly impressed — the pieces are even more beautiful in real life, with so much attention to detail. You can really feel how much care they put into their creations and the collaboration itself. I warmly recommend them.”

— Katsiaryna • Poznan, Poland (FAIRE)

“Loved the items that I received on my first order. With the new selection of items this Fall I couldn't wait to get some items into my restaurant. 75% was a pre-order BUT they were created faster than the date and shipped quickly once completed. Can't wait to get them into use.”

“I was SO impressed with the shipping packaging. Oh my gosh, not one broken piece all the way from Latvia. Everything was gorgeous, just as I expected, but whoever packs these orders, really understands how it should be done! I saved all of the packing materials so that I can try to replicate.”

MATERIALS & SURFACES

PORCELAIN

Porcelain is one of our specialities. We work with both wheel-thrown and hand-built porcelain, creating thin, refined forms with a characteristic lightness and translucency.

This could be particularly useful for designers looking for premium, delicate-looking pieces that are still functional and durable.

We mostly make tableware but also lights and decors from paper porcelain are possible.

STONEWARE

Our stoneware work ranges from refined dinnerware to heavily textured, atmospheric surfaces. High firing gives the pieces the durability required for everyday use and professional hospitality environments.

GLAZE DEVELOPMENT & SURFACE FINISHES

Colour and surface are an important part of our work. We develop and test our own glazes in-house, from subtle mattes and satin finishes to crystalline surfaces, reactive textures, lava effects, metallic finishes and layered glaze combinations.

We can develop custom colours and surface finishes for larger projects, working through testing and refinement to achieve the desired result. Each glaze has its own character and responds differently to the clay, firing and application — creating surfaces that are both distinctive and deeply connected to the handmade process.

CUSTOM PROJECTS

HOSPITALITY & RESTAURANT PROJECTS

We work with restaurants, hotels, spas and hospitality groups to develop ceramic pieces around a particular menu, interior or brand identity — from adapting existing forms to creating completely bespoke collections.

CERAMIC OBJECTS FOR INTERIORS

Beyond tableware, we create larger and more specialised ceramic objects for interiors, including floor-standing vessels, planters, lighting, switches, sockets and architectural pieces. We can work from an existing design or develop something entirely new.

BESPOKE DESIGN & PRODUCTION

Have an idea that doesn't exist yet? We can help bring it to life — from the initial sketch or reference through prototyping, form and glaze development, mould-making and production.

Depending on the project, we can produce pieces by hand in our Latvian studio or develop the design for larger-scale mould-based production with our European production partners.

Whether you need a small bespoke collection or a design developed for larger production, we can help determine the right process, materials and production route for the project.
