Paper Porcelain Wall Light & Sculpture Masterclass

from €360.00
Group size:

Step into the world of paper porcelain and create your own nature-inspired wall piece — a delicate sculpture, wall relief, or sculptural light shade shaped entirely by hand.

Begin your experience with a warm welcome tea and a guided tour of our rural ceramics studio. You’ll discover how paper porcelain differs from traditional porcelain, and learn how this unusual clay body can be pushed, folded, pierced, textured, and shaped into delicate organic forms.

This is a focused private workshop lasting approximately 2.5 hours, designed for anyone who would like to make something truly personal and sculptural rather than a traditional functional ceramic piece.

You might create a botanical-inspired wall sculpture, an abstract organic form, a delicate relief, or a sculptural piece designed to interact with light.

What We’ll Do

1. Welcome Tea & Studio Tour

  • settle in with tea

  • explore our rural ceramics studio

  • discover different clay bodies and firing techniques

  • see examples of handmade porcelain sculptures and wall lights

  • learn about the process from raw clay to finished piece

2. Making Paper Porcelain

You’ll learn:

  • what paper porcelain is and why it behaves differently from regular porcelain

  • how paper fibre changes the clay

  • how to mix and prepare the material

  • how to work with thin, delicate forms

  • how to create strength while keeping the piece light

The paper porcelain mass for your finished piece will already be prepared for the workshop, so you can immediately begin creating.

3. Creating Your Sculpture

Now you’ll create your own piece using hand-building techniques.

You can choose to make:

  • a nature-inspired wall sculpture

  • an abstract organic relief

  • a sculptural wall light shade

  • a layered or textured wall piece

Your creation can be up to approximately 30 × 20 cm.

We’ll work together throughout the process, helping you refine the structure, proportions, surface and details of your piece.

5. Final Refinements & Firing Plan

Before you leave, we’ll make the final adjustments and prepare your piece for its journey through the kiln.

Your work will then be carefully dried, fired, and glazed by us in the studio.

Within approximately 3 weeks, your finished piece will be ready for collection or shipping. Shipping is not included and will depend on the destination.

For wall lights, the ceramic element is created during the workshop; electrical components are not included.

  • anyone drawn to nature-inspired and organic design

  • complete beginners as well as experienced makers

  • people looking for a creative and mindful experience

  • anyone who would like to create a unique piece for their home

  • couples, friends or family members looking for a private creative activity

  • lovers of handmade ceramics, sculpture and natural forms

No previous ceramics experience is required.
