Two-Day Teapot Masterclass
Intermediate to Advanced — Individual or Couple Session
This immersive two-day workshop is designed for makers who already feel comfortable at the wheel and are ready to take the next step: creating a fully functional wheel-thrown teapot.
Complex, sculptural, and deeply rewarding — teapot making brings together precision, technique, and thoughtful design. Each part must relate to the whole: the lid must seat perfectly, the spout must pour gracefully, and the handle must feel balanced in the hand.
Together, we take the craft beyond form — into intention, proportion, and usability.
What We Will Learn
Over this course, you will:
Throw a teapot body on the wheel
Throw and refine a well-fitting lid
Shape and attach a smooth-pouring spout
Explore various handle designs — pulled, sculpted, carved, or attached
Trim, assemble, and refine the form for aesthetic and functional excellence
View LaimaCeramics teapot examples and learn the subtle design choices behind them
This class combines guided demonstration, hands-on throwing, design discussion, and individual correction to build confidence and skill.
Schedule
Day 1 — 10:00–13:00 (3 hours)
Demonstration of teapot components
Throwing the body
Creating lid, spout, and handle forms
Preparation for assembly
Day 2 — 10:00–12:00 (2 hours)
Trimming
Assembly
Fine details and refinement
What’s Included
All required materials and tools
Use of professional equipment
Firing and glazing of one finished teapot
Studio support throughout the drying, glazing, and firing process
Your finished piece will remain in the studio for glazing and firing and will be ready for collection in approximately 1 month. Worldwide shipping can be arranged.
Experience Level
This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners.
To be successful in this class, you must already be able to:
Centre clay confidently
Throw a clean, reasonably even cylinder
Understand basic wheel-throwing workflow
If you have never thrown before — or are not yet confident with centring and cylinders — we recommend beginning with regular wheel-throwing lessons first.
Format & Booking
Individual class (1–2 participants max)
Price per person
Organised on request

A teapot is a milestone piece in ceramics — equal parts engineering and poetry.
In this class, you not only learn how to make one — you learn how to think like a teapot maker: patient, precise, and deeply connected to form and function.
