JULY POTTERY COURSE
1–25 July | Latvia
A Deep Immersion Into Ceramics, Craft & Conscious Living
This summer immersion is offered only once per year for a very small group of 4 students, allowing for deep personal guidance, creative development and true integration into the rhythm of studio life.
This is not just a pottery course — it is an invitation into the full ecosystem of my ceramic world, where skill, spirit, discipline and artistry meet.

The Essence of This Course
I know how essential it is to fully immerse yourself in the pottery craft — and how many hours of presence, repetition and refinement it takes to truly get good at something. During these 25 days you are offered:
Full access to my professional studio
On-site accommodation at our family home
Weekly group and individual guided sessions
Space, time and support to develop your own creative voice
This is my most comprehensive and intimate offering, where I share not only technique, but also the knowledge, wisdom and behind-the-scenes of my pottery practice and way of life.
Daily Flow of the Course
Each day follows a gentle yet well-structured rhythm, balancing focused making with spaciousness and rest.
Most days include one or two guided studio sessions:
Morning workshop: 10:00 – 12:00
Afternoon workshop: 14:00 – 16:00 (on selected days)
Some mornings are reserved for individual wheel sessions, offering personalised guidance and concentrated skill development.
Outside of these sessions, participants enjoy generous free time — to rest, explore the countryside, journal, integrate, connect with others and continue independent studio practice.
Final Phase: From Forming to Finishing
As the weeks progress, focus shifts from creating form to completing and refining your work. This phase includes:
Guided glazing and surface exploration
Kiln loading and firing preparation
Raku firing day featuring traditional Baltic Obvara technique
Support in preparing work for final presentation and exhibition
Fridays & Community Rhythm
Fridays invite a softer, more communal atmosphere with our shared community lunches, slowing the pace and strengthening connection. Some Fridays may also offer optional evening relaxation experiences such as sound baths or guided sessions.
Saturdays – Optional Experiences
Saturdays feature curated group outings such as:
Spa and wellness visit
Local craft and design market
Cultural and nature excursions
What You Will Learn
WHEEL LESSONS
From foundations to advanced mastery, you will be guided through:
Preparing clay, centring and pulling cylinders
Shaping techniques and trimming
Advanced throwing such as porcelain (my personal favourite), teapots, spheres and complex forms
Having taught hundreds of students over the past 11 years, I combine precision with playfulness, helping each step become not just technically clear, but also energetically embodied. The whole art of living is mirrored in the microcosm of wheel practice.
GLAZING
Gorgeous matte, lava, metallic, natural and special-effect glazes are my speciality. I cover both glaze development and various glaze application methods. Have a look here at some of my favourites.
DINNERWARE
I teach you how to make you dream dinner-set in slab-rolling method- allowing you to create professional looking dinner set in just a few hours. Have a look at my dinner sets to see examples of what can be created under my guidance. I have made thousands of plates and bowls for restaurants around the globe, through repetition I have unlocked the key of looking for efficiency, ease and flow and grace in every process. Even if you already know how to make hand build with slabs- this class will take your skills to the next level!
RAKU FIRING
You will experience the tradition of Baltic Raku (Obvara). In Obvara, red-hot ceramics are plunged into a fermented organic mixture, creating unpredictable, smoky patterns, rich earthen tones and markings that echo Latvia’s ancestral pottery heritage.
HORSEMANSHIP
We begin with theory and art of horse communication, continue by observing the herd movement and practicing basic communication from the ground. My priority is to make a safe place for both you and the horses, in this sanctuary we look for inter-species harmony and communication. Healing comes naturally, is both given and received in this space. After a full day in the pottery- the mindful breath and movement and heart-coherence the horses bring is much valued re-charge. Read more about my herd here.
SELF-DEVELOPMENT & CONSCIOUS COMMUNICATION
More than technique alone, this course weaves personal growth into the creative process. More than just pottery skills and techniques - I love to sprinkle in every lesson glimpses in the the universal truths available in every interaction. In my own life I use such methods as TheWork of Byron Katie, Belief work, Qigong, Yoga, Somatic movement, Gene Keys, Human Design etc.
