Pottery 4-week internship
February 2026 - reserved
March 2026 - reserved
April 2026 - reserved
May 2026 - reserved
Applications for 2026 are currently full. Welcome to sign up for waitlist below in case we open spots for late autumn/winter.
Our 4-week ceramic internship is designed for potters who want to set up or level up their own studio, deepen their technical skills, and immerse themselves in the full behind-the-scenes flow of a high-functioning ceramics workshop.
This is an individual, immersive, hands-on learning for potters who want real studio experience—not a course, but a genuine month inside a working professional environment.
You will work alongside me (Laima), my assistant Oksana as we run our ceramics studio. You become part of the team for the month, included in as many processes as possible so you gain a realistic and rich understanding of studio life.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Interns devote 5 days per week (8 hours/day) in studio work. Tasks vary by production cycle and may include:
weighing and mixing glazes
sanding and sponging work
loading and unloading kilns
preparing clay
general studio upkeep
assisting with daily processes before and after firings
You do not produce our wheel-thrown work, but you are introduced to—and involved in—many aspects of the studio workflow. We make an effort to keep your days diverse so you get the most out of the experience.
In addition to daily learning through participation, you receive introductions to processes and technical explanations.
YOUR OWN WORK
Outside of studio tasks, you have time and space to work on your own pieces. Potters who focus on functional tableware benefit most from this environment.
Included for your personal making:
4 × 15kg bags of stoneware
firing and glazing for up to 20 small/medium pieces
daily access to the studio after work hours/weekends
You may take finished pieces home in your luggage (common practice) or ship them internationally.
If you wish to dive deeper into wheel-throwing or another specific skill, private 1:1 classes can be booked.
See all individual guidance classes that can be reserved here.
Aside pottery - Laima has been learning holistic horsemanship since 2016 and complimentary horsemanship lessons are available during your stay. Explore our horse sanctuary and meet the herd here.
ACCOMMODATION
Depending on the season, you will stay either:
in a private room at our family home, or
in the Loft apartment above the studio
Both options include a kitchen, bedding, towels, and WiFi.
REQUIREMENTS
To ensure a high-level experience for both sides, applicants must have:
a BA (studying or completed) in ceramics, or
minimum 2 years of studio experience
This can also be completed as an ERASMUS internship if scheduling aligns.
Please note: studio work is physically demanding. You must be comfortable with bending, lifting 10–15kg clay bags, and maintaining a healthy relationship with your own body and wellbeing.
