Horsemanship 4-week internship
Spend four transformative weeks immersed in the rhythms of horse life in rural Latvia. This program combines groundwork lessons with daily hands-on experience, and quiet connection time with horses in a calm, natural setting.
You’ll stay in a private room in our family home and become part of the daily life of our small, conscious horse project. The focus is on understanding horses through feel, observation, and gentle interactions.
This is a custom-made offering for one person at a time. This creates a cosy, friendly atmosphere where your needs can be met. You can come as a beginner or already with some experience with horses.
Holistic heart space setting to re-charge, find fresh strength and inspiration and a holistic intro in the different modalities of horsemanship. A real deep dive in the creative sanctuary I have created here in the middle of nowhere that became really somewhere!
“When all the needs of the horses are met we can begin to talk about interacting with horses in an authentic way. When we realise the need for the horse to become a willing participant in a relationship we can begin the path towards true partnership. Ask yourself- not what the horse may do for you, but what can we offer to the horse? How to facilitate, encourage, support and inspire the horse to become hero in his/her own story.” - Laima
I invite you to open your eyes to different way of being with these magnificent beings not just riding.
PREVENTATIVE HORSEKEEPING PRACTICES
Our horses are cared for through a gentle, preventative approach that prioritizes balance, nutrition, and natural wellbeing. We pay close attention to every detail of their daily life:
Balanced nutrition: Horses receive high-quality hay and oat straw provided in slow-feeding nets, allowing for steady digestion throughout the day. Each horse’s diet is individually balanced with natural mineral and vitamin supplements to support every aspect of their well-being.
Natural deworming & detox cycles: We follow natural cycles of the moon, deworming with natural herbs during the full moon phase, when parasites are most active. This keeps their systems clear and strong without overuse of chemical treatments.
Clean, calm environment: Daily stable and paddock routines focus on hygiene, airflow, and emotional balance. Horses live in small group where they can move, interact, and rest naturally.
Observation as prevention: Through our hands-on care, we notice subtle changes early — appetite, mood, movement — and adjust before problems develop.
This approach creates a peaceful, thriving herd that’s deeply trusting of people. Students participating in daily care learn how consistent, thoughtful management prevents many of the issues common in conventional stables.
LESSONS
Included are individual lessons, possibility to observe training sessions as well as to spend time with the herd throughout the day.
Some of the topics/methods that may be covered:
Communication with horses via bodylanguage, breath, intention
Intrinsic motivation and movement science
Liberty training
Training for relaxation
Groundwork exercises
Your interactions with the herd will depend on your current skill level and the needs of each horse. Sessions are horse-led and horse-centered. Meet our herd here.
To make this program more immersive as well as more affordable we include 2 hours of help with stable chores per day. You should be physically fit and like active lifestyle.
The 2 hours of stable work include — mucking out, feeding, preparing feed, sweeping, and organizing the tack area. Working quietly around horses teaches:
Discipline and consistency: Horses thrive on routine. By taking part in daily care, you learn the rhythm and timing that make horses feel secure.
Observation and awareness: While cleaning shelter or preparing hay, you can start to notice their preferences, movement patterns and energy. This kind of quiet noticing builds deep intuition and understanding.
Grounding and presence: The repetitive, physical nature of stable work centers the body and mind — a moving meditation that connects you with the herd’s calm rhythm.
Confidence through practice: By handling daily tasks, you naturally become more capable and relaxed around horses — your body language changes, and horses respond in kind.
